GRANTHAM, Pa. – After defeating Lebanon Valley earlier in the day, the Widener University softball team took on the top-seeded Arcadia Knights in the MAC Commonwealth Softball Championship hosted by Messiah College on Friday afternoon. The Pride fell 7-0 in the #1 vs. #4 matchup.
The Knights spread five runs through the first three innings. The Arcadia pitching kept the Pride off-balance all game, allowing just three hits, all of which were singles.
Isabella Kostic relieved
Sydney Powell in the third with two runners in scoring position and no outs. The freshman allowed three runs over the final four innings. Widener had an opportunity to bring some runners home in the bottom of the seventh with two on, but the Knights wiggled out of the jam unscathed.
The Pride will play tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. on the campus of Messiah College against the winner of the #5 Lebanon Valley and #3 Alvernia matchup.
