Kevin Rider to Compete in Men's Lacrosse All-Star Game

Widener senior Kevin Rider (Shamong, NJ) has been selected to play for the South in the USILA/LaxWorld North/South Senior All-Star Game on Friday.

The game will be held as part of championship weekend in which the national titles for all three levels will be crowned in Baltimore.  The All-Star Game at Goucher College in Towson, MD begins at 3:00 pm.

Rider, one of just three players to start all 20 games for the Pride, has been a solid competitor at midfield.  He is tied for third on the team with 40 ground balls and also has amassed nine goals and 12 points.

The game will close a strong career for Rider, who finished with 13 goals, six assists and 19 points for Widener.

Widener (10-10, 6-5 MAC) this season captured its 12th Middle Atlantic Conference title and fifth in six years with a 10-8 victory at FDU-Florham on May 8.  It became the lowest seed to win this tournament at No. 6 and the first to do so with three road wins.  Widener previously was the only team to win three games in the tournament, accomplishing this during the 2007 title campaign.

The Pride competed in the NCAA Tournament for eighth time, losing at Springfield in the first round.
