Football Claims Spot Atop 2015 MAC Preseason Poll

ANNVILLE, Pa. (August 17, 2015) – After taking home the 2014 Middle Atlantic Conference crown, the Widener football team has been chosen to repeat as 2015 MAC Champions, as voted on by conference coaches and released in the preseason poll on Monday.

The Pride were a unanimous top-pick by the opposing conference coaches, receiving 81 points and nine first-place votes. 

Coming in behind Widener in the rankings was Delaware Valley receiving 67 points.  Last season, the Pride handed the Aggies their lone conference loss in the regular-season finale by a score of 44-28.  The two squads will face-off in the final game of the 2015 season as well, with the rematch set for Saturday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. in Doylestown, Pa.

Rounding out the top three was Lycoming with 62 points.  In 2014, Widener faced the Warriors on Oct. 25 and came away with the 34-17 road victory.  This season, Lycoming will travel to Leslie C. Quick Stadium for a 1 p.m. match-up on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Albright (58 points) and Stevenson (56 points) were close behind in fourth and fifth places, respectively.  The bottom half of the poll, in respective order, included Lebanon Valley (39 points), King's (32 points), Wilkes (29 points), Misericordia (16 points) and Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham (10 points).
