Freshman Max Reid (Munich, Germany) scored in the eighth minute and Widener held on from there for a 1-0 triumph at Rosemont in Rosemont, PA.

Widener sophomore Eric Bihlear (Tabernacle, NJ) had his initial shot saved by goalkeeper Max McDonald, but Reid was there to clean up the rebound for his team-leading fifth goal of the season. This was part of an onslaught in which the Pride (4-3-1) owned a decisive 25-5 shots edge and took all 15 corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Jakub Valdner (Bratislava, Slovakia) only had to make two saves in the second half. He halted Don Tess on a shot in the 72nd minute and Brett Krajewski on an attempt in the 82nd minute.

Sophomore Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, NJ) took six shots, junior Troy Czapor (Richboro, PA) had five and Valdner made four saves for the Pride.

"We didn't play our best game, but to create that number of scoring opportunities we feel that things are now starting to come together at a very important time before (Commonwealth) Conference games begin," Widener coach Brent Jacquette said.

Ansu Corneh had three shots and McDonald came up with 11 saves for the Ravens (1-6).

Widener is home Saturday vs. Gwynedd-Mercy, starting at 4:00 pm.
