Boxscore
(box score)

Widener played Albright even in the opening half, but gave up two second-half tallies in a 3-1 Commonwealth Conference loss in Reading, PA.

Albright took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute when Vitali Zaluha was able to get the ball and score an unassisted marker.

Widener had the answer in the 23rd minute to forge a 1-1 tie. Eric Taylor (Bensalem, PA) got the ball and fed a pass to fellow sophomore Zac Furia (Morton, PA), who shot one under goalkeeper Austin Aldinger for his second goal of the season and third career.

The Lions put on the pressure to open the second half and were rewarded just 3:20 in to take a 2-1 lead. Tyler Waters had the ball on the right just outside the box, beat his defender and put a great low shot inside the left post for his fifth goal of the year.

Zaluha again was on the spot to give Albright a 3-1 cushion in the 55th minute. He had the ball on the left side and blasted one home for his seventh goal of the season.

Senior Jakub Valdner (Bratislava, Slovakia) again played great in goal for the Pride (5-7-4, 0-3-3 CC) with nine saves that included seven in the second half. Widener had its chances, including an attempt in close from sophomore Alec DelConte (North Cape May, NJ) in which Aldinger came out and made a great save.

Zaluha had nine shots to help the Lions (5-9-2, 1-4-1) post a 19-7 edge.

Widener is home Saturday to face third-ranked Messiah, starting at 7:30 pm. The women play first in the doubleheader at 5:00 pm.
