Bookmark and Share
Widener’s volleyball team was picked to end tied for third in the Commonwealth Conference based on a vote by the league’s coaches.

Junior Jamie Ballew (Media, PA) is one of the major reasons for the team’s recent success. She was named first team all-conference last season, making the jump after being tabbed second team all-league in 2008 and the conference’s Rookie of the Year. Ballew was fifth in the league with 8.36 assists per set, has dished at least 30 assists 19 times this year and already is third in school annals with 2,154 career assists.

Junior outside hitter/middle hitter Alectra Edison (Lancaster, CA) also is a vital player on offense. She ended second on the team last year with a .249 hitting percentage, fourth with 177 kills and tied for second with 56 blocks.

Sophomore Angela DiMaria (Warrington, PA) was a great addition last season, closing fourth with a .200 hitting percentage, second with 298 kills and fifth with 217 digs.

Lebanon Valley was picked to win the conference with five first-place votes.

Widener begins its season September 3 at the Battlefield Classic in Gettysburg. Please note the schedule changes as the team now opens at 5:00 pm against Gallaudet.
