Widener's men's squad captured its 14th outdoor title and senior Nikita Halteman (Hatboro, PA) was tabbed the Women's Field Athlete of the Year at the Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
Widener rallied from down 37 points after day two of the three-day meet for its first outdoor conference title since 2006. The squad, which finished with 190 points compared to second-place DeSales at 169, also won the indoor championship last winter.
Senior James Green (Lansdale, PA) won the shot put a third straight year at 49' 10” and fellow senior Jacob Munick (Narbeth, PA) took the discus throw at 147' 4.” Senior Bernard Innocent (Fairfax, VA) grabbed the 200-meter dash in 22.16 seconds and sophomore Dennis Conn (Morton, PA) took the 1,500-meter run in 4:01.96.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team won in 42.46 seconds and was comprised of Bernard Innocent, Robert Innocent (Fairfax, VA), fellow junior Kevin Franklin (Baltimore, MD) and freshman Ben Petrak (Chadds Ford, PA). The men's 4x400 relay team was victorious in 3:25.85 and was made up of junior Mark Benedetto (Vineland, NJ), senior Marc Bandola (Clarksburg, NJ), freshman Raymond Johnson (Mays Landing, NJ) and sophomore Sean McCarthy (Ellicott City, MD).
Widener's Vince Touey, who has won a combined 17 conference championships in 23 years, was named Coach of the Year to match his award from the winter.

Sophomore Abby Schaffer (Easton, PA) on Friday won the pole vault at 12' 10” for a new conference and school record. The reigning MAC indoor winner at this event, who closed second at the NCAA Championships last winter, automatically qualified for this spring's nationals.
Freshman Darcela Llanos (Erdenheim, PA) won the 400-meter dash in 58.92 seconds for the Pride, who ended fifth with 95 points. Messiah won with 193 points.
