Schiller Named Inquirer Men's Swimming Co-Performer of the Year; Conicello Picked to Women's Team

Widener junior Dalton Schiller (Media, PA) has been tabbed the Philadelphia Inquirer Men's Swimming Co-Performer of the Year and senior Tyla Conicello (West Conshohocken, PA) has been picked to the Women's Swimming All-Area Team.

 

Owner of a 3.496 GPA in Pre-Physical Therapy, Schiller had a huge role in Widener winning a 12th Middle Atlantic Conference title and fifth straight.  He was a member of the champion 800-yard relay team, ended third in the 500-yard freestyle and third in the 400-yard IM.

 

A two-time member of the MAC Academic Honor Roll, Schiller also won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:51.84 at Elizabethtown, the 1,000-yard freestyle in against Lebanon Valley and the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team at the very competitive F&M Invitational.  He also captured the 200-yard freestyle in against Albright and was a member of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team against Swarthmore.

 

Conicello now is a three-time honoree on the team and a three-time member of the MAC Academic Honor Roll.  This comes on the heels of her being named the MAC Women's Swimming Scholar-Athlete of the Year. 

 

A captain on a squad which ended fourth in the league, Conicello was part of the 200-yard medley relay team that closed third at this year's MAC Championships and a member of the school-record 200 and 400-yard medley relay teams.

 

Also this season, Conicello won the 100-yard backstroke and the 50-yard freestyle to go with being on the winning 200-yard medley relay team against Lebanon Valley.

 

Away from the pool, she sports a 3.822 GPA in Social Work.  Conicello served as President of Student Government and participated in Alternative Spring Break.
