Women's Lacrosse Leaves No Doubt in 18-4 Rout of Wilkes

(box score)

Senior Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby, PA) scored five goals and dished four assists for Widener in an 18-4 Middle Atlantic Conference victory over Wilkes at Edith R. Dixon Field.

Elliot scored three of the Pride's first five goals and helped the squad open an 8-2 halftime lead.  Sophomore Rachel Porter (Medford, NJ) netted a pair in the half for Widener (8-3, 5-1 MAC), which had a 19-10 shots edge in that span.

Elliott closed with her ninth hat trick of the season and sixth straight, helping the Pride to their seventh victory in the last eight contests.  She entered the week 35th in the country with 4.0 goals per game.

Porter finished with three goals and freshman Julia Costello (Brookhaven, PA) had a natural hat trick midway through the second half for Widener.  Junior Calina Walz (Medford, NJ) totaled three assists.

The defense also did the job with sophomore Linda Salcedo (Media, PA) making seven saves over 47 minutes.  Widener forced Wilkes to convert only 11-of-27 clear attempts and commit 27 turnovers.

Stephanie Harkins and Amanda Tilley each had a goal and an assist for the Lady Colonels with Cassie Cronin making 11 saves.

Widener on Thursday visits FDU-Florham for a 4:00 pm start in Madison, NJ.
