Widener has four student-athletes who have been selected to attend the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in Indianapolis, IN.
These athletes include juniors Chris Keating (Lancaster, PA) from men's lacrosse, Meg Phillips (Aston, PA) from softball, and Chris McDevitt (Doylestown, PA) from men's basketball, and sophomore Anna Geeter (Jackson, NJ) from women's lacrosse.
The forum will take place from May 11-14. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about and explore various careers in the sports industry, primarily within collegiate athletics. The functions of both coaches and administrators will be addressed, as well as necessary skills such as communication, networking, recruiting, and budgeting. The forum will cover coaching aspects for baseball, basketball, bowling, football, gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling, and the administrative aspects of academics, compliance, facilities, life skills, marketing and promotions, and sports information.
Keating is in his third year on defense. He was a part of the 2008 squad that won the MAC Championship.
Phillips is in her third year. She has started all 16 games at second base, and is currently hitting .339. She also leads the team in runs scored with 15, triples with three, and stolen bases with eight.
McDevitt is a three-time letterwinner at guard. He played in all 25 games this past season with 14 starts. He led the team in 3-point field goals with 32, finished second in assists with 56, and tied for fourth with 189 points.
Anna Geeter is in her second year. She has played in all seven games at midfield and on defense with six starts. She is fourth on the team with nine draw controls, and has also scored four goals and recorded two assists.
