Widener senior defensive lineman Josh Fredricks (Hammonton, NJ) continued to pile on the awards as he was tabbed second team CoSIDA Academic All-Region.
This honor comes after Fredricks was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team in 2008 and 2009. This year's team is yet to be announced.
Fredricks, who has a 3.659 GPA in Economics, once again is one of the focal players on a strong defensive line. He has totaled 16 tackles that include nine solos and four tackles for a loss.
It is his role of taking the pressure off others that goes beyond his stats. His play has Widener second in the Middle Atlantic Conference with 104.5 rushing yards allowed per game and second in overall defense with 311.2 yards given up per contest.
Fredricks will be one of 24 players on the squad who will be named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll. This is up from 17 a year ago.
