Men's Basketball to Take Part in Coaches vs. Cancer on Saturday
Bookmark and Share

Widener's men's basketball team will be among many across the nation which this weekend will take part in Coaches vs. Cancer, sponsored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society.

Widener's staff will wear sneakers to show their support and help raise awareness.  This will occur during the team's home game Saturday against Messiah at 3:00, which follows the women's contest that begins at 1:00 pm.

The newly titles "Suits and Sneakers Awareness Weekend" is held to serve as a reminder for people the importance of cancer prevention and early detection.  Since the program’s inception in 1993, high school and college basketball coaches across the United States have raised nearly $50 million to support the Society’s efforts to save lives from cancer.
