Widener for the second straight season will compete in the Nick Colleluori Classic, which this year takes place Sunday, October 11 at Ridley High School in Ridley, PA.
Widener will face York (PA) at 10:00 am, Ursinus at 11:00 am and Scranton at 1:30 pm. Admission is $10 with all proceeds going to the HEADstrong Foundation.
The tournament and clinic will raise money and awareness about the HEADstrong Foundation, which was created to raise money for blood cancer research and help those afflicted by this horrible disease. The foundation was created in memory of Nick Colleluori, a 2004 graduate of Ridley High School who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Nick lost his relentless battle to cancer on November 28, 2006 after 14 difficult months. HEADstrong was Nick's idea and the Foundation will work to make sure his dream of ending this disease is realized.
Widener (10-9) last season competed in its fifth straight Middle Atlantic Conference final, one year after winning a fourth straight conference title. The Pride have won 11 conference crowns in their illustrious history.
