Widener's men's and women's soccer teams served as hosts to the fourth annual William Trippley Youth Development Foundation from August 10-14.
The camp at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium hosted 75-100 of Chester's youths from ages 6-11 at no cost. Many of the Pride's student-athletes were there to help organize the games and spread some fun.
The events also ran through the efforts of women's soccer coach Brian Sheehan, who in 2008 was given a proclamation by the city for his work with Chester PAL.
The foundation started four years ago with the mission of reaching out to the children in the Chester community, in an effort to let those children know that they have other outlets in life that oppose the conventional way of living in their environment.
The organization is designed to increase academic success, as well as, teach kids about soccer and to use this knowledge to help participants learn about teamwork, leadership, and social experiences.
The men's team opens its season Tuesday at home against Haverford at 5:00 pm. The women start Wednesday at Purchase, beginning at 3:30 pm.
