Football to Take Part in Coach to Cure MD on September 26

Widener's football team is proud to take part in Coach to Cure MD during its home opener September 26 against Frostburg State.

Coach to Cure MD is a nationwide project designed to build awareness about Muscular Dystrophy and raise money to support researchers trying to find a treatment and cure.   The day is part of a corporation between the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), the largest non-profit organization in the United States focused entirely on Muscular Dystrophy.

Widener coach David Wood will show his support for the cause by wearing a Coach to Cure MD patch during the game, which begins at 1:00 pm.

To donate money on-line, click www.CoachToCureMD.org.  To contribute by cell phone, text “CURE” to 90999 to donate $5 on your next phone bill.

The football team joins the list of many Widener squads who have participated in worthwhile causes the last few years.  These teams include field hockey, women's soccer, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball and women's lacrosse.

Widener opens its season September 12 at Curry.
