Widener senior Jessica Gonzalez (Eastampton, NJ) was picked second team All-Commonwealth Conference a second straight year with juniors Amanda Nagy (Lititz, PA) and Megan Scarpinato (Sewell, NJ) notching their first second-team honor.
Gonzalez this season led the Pride with six assists and was sixth with 10 points. Her best game took place against Shenandoah on October 24, when she had a goal and two assists.
Nagy continues to be a solid player on defense and it showed by ending tied for third in the conference with four defensive saves. This went a long way in the Pride closing fourth in the league in goals-against average and also finishing with three shutouts.
Scarpinato gives Widener strong play at midfield, closing tied for third in the league with four defensive saves and tied for second on the team with seven goals and 17 points. She scored twice against Gwynedd-Mercy on October 15 and had a crucial defensive save in overtime of Widener's victory against William Paterson on October 3.
Ironically, these three were the only ones for Widener to start all 17 games.
The Pride (11-6, 4-3 CC) advanced to the conference tournament a second straight year, playing in one of the toughest league's in the country.
