James Woodley and Chris Waldron Selected to Play in D-III Football Senior Classic

Widener senior nose guard James Woodley (Pittsgrove, NJ) and senior left tackle Chris Waldron (Allentown, PA) were selected to participate in the D-III Football Senior Classic.

The game, showcasing the top 90 Division III players in the country, will take place Saturday, December 5 in Salem, VA.  Representatives from the National Football League, Canadian Football League and United Football League are expected to attend.

Named first team All-Middle Atlantic Conference each of the last two years, Woodley constantly draws double teams as he is one of the most feared players in the league.  Even with all the attention, he still is first in the league with 14.5 tackles for a loss, seventh with 5.5 sacks and 22nd with 5.6 tackles per game.

No game this year stood out more than October 31 against Lebanon Valley, in which he had 19 tackles to tie for the third most in school history.  The four-year starter also ended with 14 solo tackles, 1.5 sacks and five tackles for a loss.

Waldron has done a solid job on the offensive line and that was rewarded last season in him being named second team All-MAC.  That helped the offense score at least 22 points five times this season and at least 27 points four games last year.

The play of Woodley and Waldron went a long way in Widener winning the ECAC Southwest Bowl in 2006 and the MAC championship in 2007.

Widener on Saturday hosts Delaware Valley in the Keystone Cup Game, beginning at 1:00 pm.
