Senior Sam Baer (Lancaster, PA) scored in the 79th minute to help Widener finish its non-conference slate with a 3-2 win over Misericordia at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

Baer received a pass in the box from senior Sarah Schaffer (Deptford, NJ) and buried it for the game-winner.  The assist was Schaffer’s second of the game.

Sophomore Brittany Balentine (Medford, NJ) tied the game, 2-2, when she buried a shot in the top right corner from ten yards out after receiving a cross from Schaffer.

Baer recorded eight shots for the Pride (13-4-2, 3-3), who finished with a 20-10 advantage that included a 12-4 edge in the second half.

Freshman Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) recorded her fifth win of the year, making two saves in 45 minutes of shutout action for Widener.

Suchoski took four shots for the Cougars and Myers made seven saves.

Widener travels to Reading, PA on Saturday for a Commonwealth Conference game against Albright at 6:00 pm.  The Pride can clinch the final spot in the conference tournament with a win.
