Senior Sarah Schaffer (Deptford, NJ) scored twice for her first multi-goal game, helping Widener to a 3-1 Commonwealth Conference victory over Lebanon Valley at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

Widener (12-3-2, 3-2 CC) needed just 1:52 to grab a 1-0 lead.  Junior Caryinna Yenchak (Ashley, PA) took the ball at the top of the box and buried her eighth goal of the season.

The margin ballooned to 2-0 less than seven minutes later as Schaffer began to take over.  She got the ball 25 yards out and scored her first goal of the year.

Schaffer again was on the spot in the 20th minute, receiving a cross from sophomore Brittany Balentine (Medford, NJ) and finding the back of the net for a 3-0 Pride cushion.

Lebanon Valley (6-11-1, 1-5) got one back in the 54th minute as Nicole Snyder scored off an assist from Emily Bainbridge for a 3-1 contest.

Yenchak fired three shots for the Pride, who closed with a 13-7 edge and also 6-2 in corner kicks.  Senior Alee Gunter (Maple Shade, NJ) made four saves over 45 minutes and freshman Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) had three over the same stretch.

Snyder recorded four shots and Sami Young made four saves for the Dutchmen.

Widener on Monday visits Elizabethtown in a rescheduled conference game.  Kickoff is 7:00 pm.
