Field Hockey Rolls in 9-2 Victory Over Shenandoah

Senior Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby, PA) and freshman Shelby Aaronson (Lumberton, NJ) each scored twice for Widener in a 9-2 Commonwealth Conference victory over Shenandoah at Edith R. Dixon Field.

 

Widener (10-4, 3-2 CC) raced to a 6-1 halftime lead as six different players scored.  Elliott and Aarson each tallied in the second half.

 

Senior Jessica Gonzalez (Eastampton, NJ) had a goal and two assists for the Pride, who have won six of their last seven outings.  Senior Ellen Etzweiler (Landisville, PA), junior Megan Scarpinato (Sewell, NJ), junior Danielle Dudley (Bristol, PA) and sophomore Natalie Gifford (Morton, PA) all scored for Widener.

 

Senior Katie Jensen (Center Valley, PA) made five saves for the Pride, who notched their seventh 10-win season in the last nine years.

 

Sarah DeLuca and Paola Aguilar each scored for the Hornets (7-9, 1-5).

 

Widener on Tuesday visits Arcadia at 4:00 pm.

Women's Indoor Track
Sophomore Abby Schaffer automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships, winning the pole vault at 3.85 meters at the ECAC Championships.  Her mark also broke the meet and facility record.

Senior Cory Malampy ended with three goals, two assists and three ground balls in men's lacrosse's 12-6 victory Saturday over Swarthmore.
